About this job

Our client is one of Canada’s premier contractors in multiple industries - civil infrastructure, power projects, industrial construction and others. They have built some of Canada’s most notable landmarks and are dedicated to help their clients meet their objectives. They have undergone enormous growth and are continuing to expand their team. They are seeking a rising star who wants to bring their career to the next level.

The Director of Project Controls is a new role created to manage the Project Controls function in Western Canada. You will report directly to the Vice President of Project Controls and will be responsible for leading the Project Controls function for all projects within several business units. You will work closely with the Operations team to ensure cost control on major projects as well as lead weekly cost and schedule review meetings for key projects. The successful applicant will also participate in the valuations and analyses of potential mergers and acquisitions. You will also work closely with finance personnel at each operating entity to develop methodologies and approaches that will enhance the accuracy of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow forecasting. You will be responsible for effectively managing the project engineering team across finance, accounting, treasury and taxation as well as overseeing preparation, review and analysis of other financial reports.

To be successful in this position, you must have a technical degree/diploma in Business or Engineering. A CA, CMA, CGA or P. Eng. are highly desirable. You must have at least 10-15 years of experience in forecasting, financial analysis, along with Project Controls experience in large scale construction projects within a publicly traded company. Knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with Canadian tax legislation are preferred. You must have superior analytical and communication skills. The company offers a competitive salary, strong bonus potential and strong career growth.
