Planning A Project For Beginners Using Primavera

Primavera can prove worthwhile for various reasons, but it is my opinion it is better recognized for its ability to assist with your project from start to finish. Every project has a start date, if you are just beginning consider the answers to the questions below:

  1. What will the duration of your project be? What dates will the project begin and end?
  2. What tasks will be necessary to complete the project? What is your goal?
  3. Other than work, are any resources necessary?
  4. Who will complete each activity? Calculate work hours, holidays and downtime.
  5. What will the project cost? Are there any hidden costs?
  6. Are projects costs within the project budget? If you estimate beforehand it can help keep you from overruns.

Figuring out the answers to the above questions can help you create a project outline.

Having an outline of your project will allow you to compare a projects lifecycle to your own schedule and availability. We all have a life and daily tasks to complete, etc. Out of which we have created a routine, which allows for slight bends along the way. Making it through the day-to-day can be hard at times, but an even more daunting is trying to figure out what lies in the future.
